Objective
Atlantic Packaging have been working on improving the companies CDP score since 2020, with ambitions of achieving an A list score since the beginning.
Process
Verco initially started working with Atlantic Packaging by helping the company calculate its Scope 1&2 carbon impact for the first time. Support with the CDP Climate Change Questionnaire followed later that same year, with Verco taking the lead on quantitative elements of the disclosure and reviewing qualitative content prepared by Atlantic Packaging’s team.
Outcome
Atlantic Packaging received an impressive ‘A score’ in the CDP 2023 Climate Change questionnaire. Atlantic Packaging is one of only 353 companies worldwide to have made the 2023 Climate Change ‘A List’, putting them in the top 1.6%.
They are also the first packaging company in North America to have an approved net zero Science Based Target by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Atlantic Packaging continues to implement climate-smart strategies across key areas including renewables for logistics and material handling, energy efficiency in lighting, and zero-waste facilities.
As part of an ongoing commitment to influencing its value chain, Atlantic has also been one of 20 brands enrolling key suppliers in the Supplier Leadership on Climate Transitions (S-LoCT) program, a knowledge platform and brand collaborative that aims to collectively reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
“Earning a place on CDP’s A List is a significant milestone for Atlantic Packaging as we continue to strategically reduce our company’s environmental impact within the global packaging supply chain,” “Our efforts are guided by a regenerative vision for the future of our planet, and we understand that we must set a strong example through an internal commitment to environmental ethics. Atlantic will continue to remain adaptable to new technologies and systems that seek to solve environmental challenges, while encouraging other companies to join our efforts.”
