Act now! IET Government funding Phase 1: Spring 2021 now available
The Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) competition Phase 1 second window (Spring 2021) is now open (8th March 2021) and closes on 14th July 2021.
The programme will provide up to £40 million matched funding (in Phase 1: Spring 2021) for feasibility studies, engineering studies and demonstration projects in England, Wales and NI.
Industries with significant heating and/ or cooling processes are likely to be good candidates for funding.
There is a range of funding options and the second window of the competition is now open
- Development of mature energy efficiency technologies that improve industrial process energy efficiency and reduce demand (minimum grant funding £100k per project, up to 24 months duration)
- Feasibility studies for projects deploying mature energy efficiency technologies or deep decarbonisation (minimum eligible project cost £30k, up to 12 months duration)
- Engineering studies for projects deploying mature energy efficiency technologies or deep decarbonisation (minimum eligible project cost £50k, up to 24 months duration)
The scope is relatively broad including energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects. There are certain exclusions that operators need to be aware of, including conventional CHP, building heating and cooling, transport measures, or production of hydrogen, biogas or biofuel, but within these areas there are certain exemptions. Fuel switching is generally encouraged as long as the new process results in carbon reduction.
