Verco declares climate emergency with fellow BCorps
We are extremely proud of our BCorp status and to be part of a movement using business as a force for good.
Today we have joined many of our fellow BCorp members in declaring a climate emergency. As part of this declaration and in line with our business vision and mission, we are publicly committing to achieve Net Zero Carbon in 2020. Yes, 2020! We feel that there is an urgency that requires immediate action.
Our declaration statement is below:
Verco’s climate emergency declaration
Verco is committed to helping others achieve net zero carbon emissions, as well as ensuring that our own business aligns with our core values and mission statement. We are clear there is a Climate Emergency which will require immediate and radical action by all businesses, including ours.
This Declaration requires that our entire business model be designed in the context of a Climate Emergency. This includes a commitment to Net Zero Carbon by 2020 with realistic reduction targets throughout our value chain, including alignment with the principles of science-based targets.
This Declaration commits us to shape the short, medium and long-term strategy and business model of the company, and that this model embraces the principles of ‘just transition’ which takes into account people who will be implicated in this Declaration.
We must seek to maximise the interests of all stakeholders - shareholders, employees, suppliers, customers - in the context of a total commitment to doing what is required by the Climate Emergency.
Verco’s net zero carbon commitment
Verco commit to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2020. Verco also commit to developing a carbon reduction commitment aligned with the principles of the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for Scopes 1, 2 and 3.
In the coming months we will describe our journey to Net Zero Carbon, how we will achieve our ambition and our milestones as we reach this important and urgent target.
