Verco recognised as a Best for the World™ B Corp for exceptional impact on its Governance and Workers
We are so delighted to be recognised as one of the Best for the World™ B Corps of 2022 for both Governance and workers.
Out of 5,000 certified B Corporations worldwide, we are among the top 5% of BCorps in two of the five impact areas assessed as part of the certification process! Our continuous commitment towards our Governance and Workers paved the way for this achievement. We are proud to be one of the Best for the World™ this year and congratulate our fellow shortlisted B Corps of 2022.
About B Corps
B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall social and environmental impact of the company that stands behind it. To achieve B Corp Certification, a company must meet a score of at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, an evaluation of a company’s positive impact, and pass a risk review, an evaluation of a company’s negative impact; change their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders; and exhibit transparency by allowing information about their B Corp Certification performance to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
Dave Worthington, Managing Director of Verco comments:
“All B Corps are businesses that meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. To be recognised as one of the Best for the World™ B Corps of 2022 for both Governance and Workers makes us incredibly proud!”
"Each Best for the World edition is an opportunity to raise the bar for how businesses can and should operate to create real and lasting positive impact for their workers, customers, communities, and the environment. While no company is perfect and even the best companies can and should continue to strive to improve, the B Corps recognized as Best for the World can provide us all — standards setters, B Corps, non B Corps, and sustainability advocates — with inspiration on what true leadership in business can look like to make progress on addressing our current global challenges.”
Dan Osusky, Head of Standards and Insights at B Lab Global.
We are committed to helping the BCorp movement make progress towards our collective goal and vision: to transform the global economic system to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. Below we have shared some of our best-practice activities in the Governance category:
Mission and engagement
We incorporate social and environmental impact into decision-making it’s important to the success and profitability of our business. Our corporate mission statement includes a commitment to specific social and environmental impact:
1. Make a material difference to global carbon targets, enabling Governments and corporate leaders to make the right decisions for sustainable growth.
2. Develop a community of passionate and diverse professionals committed to solving the complex challenges associated with climate change and resource efficiency.
3. Grow financial, environmental and social value through the delivery of best-in-market services.
We have a formal policy to engage stakeholders with our social and environmental performance. As well as tracking and reporting on metrics for business travel, waste and electricity, we also ensure employees are engaged in this. We give training on environmental issues which are material to our mission as well as training managers on how to communicate our social environmental goals to employees. There is accountability for reporting on, and achieving results.
Ethics and transparency
We are transparent with our team, with regular updates on performance, including financials, etc. Our accounts are audited annually and this information is made publicly available.
Our employees are instructed on our code of ethics, behavioural expectations, bribery and corruption.
We publicly share information on social and environmental performance on an annual basis, this is presented as a formal report which is made public.
We include our teams in our decision making, but our next aim is to enhance this; look for further ways our team can have a say.
